一、使用詞典及注重閱讀

詞典是學習一門語言的工具，很多學生學英語沒有經常查英語詞典的習慣，這是不良的學習習慣,應該多多使用詞典。有的語言學家認為甚至看一個學生使用什么樣的詞典就可以判斷的的學習水平。我認為首選的應該是經濟實惠的英漢雙解詞典，如：《郎文英漢雙解活用詞典》(LONGMAN ACTIVE STUDY ENGLISH-CHINESE DICTIONARY)(上海譯文出版社，32元)，然后再過度到使用英英詞典。當然，查名詞通常需要借助漢英詞典。在查英語詞典的時候我們還應該學習的是詞語的搭配。如：because of后只能接名詞詞組(做賓語)，because后只能接表示原因的從句。學習單詞時請記住英語單詞的詞性。如bribe可以是名詞，也可以作為動詞來使用。如：The bank teller bribed his banker.(銀行出納員賄賂他的上司) The banker was charged with taking bribes from the bank teller.(銀行經理被指控接受出納員的賄賂)The government fights against the bribery(政府打擊行賄受賄)。學習詞的時候一般情況下不要孤立地學，否則容易忘記。盡量作到“詞不離句，句不離文。”有的學生寫作文的時候從英語詞典里找到他們需要的詞。這并不是明智的學習英語寫作的方法。或者根據自己的漢語思維將要表達的意思寫出來，寫出來的英語往往給人感覺非常蹩腳而不自然。前提是他在寫作文以前到沒有大量的閱讀中去吸取知識的養分，培養語感，就象蜜蜂不采蜜就釀不出蜜的道理一樣。

二、善用詞匯提高寫作水平

句子是由詞組合而成的。有的學生在寫英語作文的時候，喜歡用生僻的詞，認為這樣可以得到高分。我覺得這似乎有些“為賦新詩強說愁”的味道。如I deem(我想)，而不用I think.一位美國的心理學博士Lois Gail認為：deem通常不可以取代 think. 因為 deem 是英語中非常正式的說法，包含了判斷和權威。她用英語講解：In current English, “deem” is very formal and almost connotes judgment and is not commonly used as a substitute for “think.” 用什么樣的詞要分場合。如果是一個非常莊嚴肅穆的場合，可以用deem, 但如果表達個人對某一問題的看法，還是要用think合情理些。

有的學生寫作文的時候反復用一個詞組，會給人枯燥的感覺。如：Every morning, I get up early, then go to do some sports. Doing sports makes me healthy and smart.作文中的用法都是正確的，但更好的則是：Every morning, I get up early to play basketball or go some jogging, which makes me healthy and energetic. 中國學生在英語作文中喜歡用的一個英語表達法do some sports(從事體育運動)，是從中學英語課本學來的。可是在現代英語里，這個表達法幾乎沒有人使用了。如果從事體育運動，就具體表達成：play basketball, play football.等等。

三、善用句型提高寫作水平

寫作文首先是從寫正確的句子開始。一個句子從語法上講是指由大寫字母開始，由名詞，動詞或詞組構成的一個陳述句，祈使句，驚嘆句和疑問句。由句號，疑問號或驚嘆號來結束。表示一個意思講完了，它表示停頓和呼吸。音樂的樂譜講“樂句，”一個樂句彈奏完了要停頓一下是一樣的道理。 要注意的是很多(包括美國)學生在寫英語作文的時候，不知道英語的句號要用在引號前面。正確的例句如：She said, “You are a good girl.”這一細節請注意。有的學生寫英語作文喜歡用復合句，認為這樣不容易出錯。其實，很多學生連簡單的英語句子都不能保證寫對的時候，就寫出來些錯誤的復合句。這就象一個小孩還沒有學會走路就開始學跑步，肯定是要跌跤的。我認識一位美國的高中英語教師，美國文學學士Temple Sterling 女士認為將英語作為外語來學習的學生還是先學會使用簡單句然后再學習復合句也不遲。

(一)盡量使用基本句型

英語句子結構的特點是：相對于德語，法語，俄語，英語“比較簡單，自然，合乎邏輯思維的自然順序。”(李賦寧《英語學習經驗談》147頁)。要寫好英語作文首先要掌握基本的英語句型：英語千變萬化的句子歸根到底都離不開以下這五個基本的句型。(《大學英語》：語法與練習 第一冊第1頁)通常情況下，一個句子的關鍵在于動詞。有人提出的觀點是：動詞是一個句子的靈魂。

1. Mary is a (主——動——主補)

2. The flowers are blooming. SV (主——動)

3. I have a pen. SVO(主——動——賓)

4. The mother will buy the girl a bike. SVOi (間接賓語)Od(直接賓語) (主——動——間賓——直賓)

5. The parents consider the child a genius. SVOCo (主——動——賓——賓補)

英語中的系表結構也很常用。如：You look 與happy構成系表結構。

(二)活用英語連詞

英語里有些短語就象水泥一樣把整個段落的構連架連接起來。如：表示結果：as a result, consequently, therefore, etc. in contrast, however, etc. 遞進：furthermore, in addition, etc. 總結：in a word, in brief, in short, etc. 轉折：but, in spite of, etc. 原因：because, because of, 讓步：though

(三)學會使用平行結構

平行結構相當于漢語里的排比結構，它是英美人喜歡使用的一種語言結構，即將相類似的詞或者動詞結構放在一起，這樣不容易出錯，并且排列整齊，營造出一種氣勢。根據一個美國老師的觀點，如果一個中國人向英國或是美國的公司用寫英語求職信，會使用平行結構的人將會被優先錄用。

平行結構例句1，Mary is a kind, cute, clever, happy girl.

例2，Every morning, after I get up, I get dressed, make bed,brush my teeth, wash my face, have breakfast and go to school.(有下劃線部分為平行結構。)

(四)運用語氣加強情感

英語里有一些縮寫，如I#39;m , he#39;s , she#39;s, I#39;ve, I don#39;t 等等，you#39;re 的讀音與your 相同。所有的這些縮寫形式都是英語里不正式的用法和語氣。在正式語體中，如果給美國總統寫信，就不可以用縮寫形式，而必須要用 I am, You are, He is 等等。用He is hard-working 比he works hard.語氣弱。(be 結構比動詞的氣弱要弱。)long for語氣很強，一般只能在戀人之間使用。如英語一首情歌歌詞：I am longing for you.

四、段落層次分明

一個典型的英語段落往往先點明主題思想，即(topic sentence)，然后再對該主題加以分析，論證，即(support)，最后是一個總結性的句子，即(conclusion)。(姚君偉《跨文化語境下的外語教學》188頁)

例：(主題句：)Competition is common in every field of life.(展開部分：)(1：) For example, the Olympic Games is the most famous competition in the world. (2：)In the four hundred meter swimming race, the swimmers plunge into the water at the signal.( 3：)Each swings his or her arms and legs and tries his or her best to be the first. (4：)Also there is the competition for jobs, for promotion, for customers, and so on. (總結：)We can say ,in a certain sense, competition stimulating people#39;s interest in work helps society to go forward.

如果 將段落的結構再擴展，就成為一篇文章的結構。美式寫作結構的特點是：段落層次分明，觀點闡述平行推進，直線思維，邏輯性強，行文如流水，簡潔明了。(崔曉霞《大學英語作文應試章法》第7頁)

五、運用口語培養英語思維

提高英語的作文可以從訓練英語口語開始，口語是文字的先鋒。“口頭語言早在人類社會形成之初就已出現，至盡已經存在了幾百萬年，而書面文字的歷史只有短短幾千年。”(胡壯麟《語言學簡明教程》133頁)英國著名的英語教學專家格蘭特在20xx年3月20日的英語《二十一世紀報》增刊上談到口語的提高可以促進英語作文水平。他在文中指出：“Oral skills are important both in themselves, and also because they help one to prepare for writing. The best oral activities often lead to written activities that benefit from them.” 還應該多與英美人交流，在實際的生活中了解他們的語言習慣與思維習慣，還可以學到書本上學不到的知識。

思維是寫作的前提條件。著名語言學家王力先生曾說“中國的語言是人制的，西洋的語言是法制的。”所以他們的語言邏輯性強，人情味淡;我們的語言邏輯性差，人情味強。如：1)我的祖母還健在。英語：My grandma is still alive(我的祖母還活著).我想只有通過大量的閱讀才能培養良好的英語的思維和語感，克服來自母語的干擾。話題又回到閱讀上來，讀多了就自然培養英語思維，就可以不再受母語思維的干擾。“英語思維在寫作中的好處是可以用英美人習慣的言語來表達思想。”

誤：Sometimes teachers will inform students of the heavy burden they have to bear.

正：Sometimes the teacher will inform students of the heavy burden he has to bear.

【說明】句1中的they既可指教師，也可指學生，屬指代不清的。可以把它們中的任意一個改成單數名詞。因為單數名詞也可以泛指一類。

二、修飾方面的錯誤

修飾語應緊靠被修飾的成分，并和它形成正確的邏輯關系。如果修飾語的位置不妥當，就會造出模棱兩可的病句。

誤：To keep the air clean, we must move the factories which give off poisonous gases to the countryside.

正：To keep the air clean, we must move the factories to the countryside if they give off poisonous gases.

【說明】句1要表達的是把有害氣體排放到農村，還是把工廠遷到農村去?顯然修飾語to the countryside的'位置放錯了。如句2改變一下結構，就能清楚地表達要表達的意思了。

三、一致方面的錯誤

在一個句子內部或緊鄰的兩三個句子之間，要保持時態、人稱、數等的一致。

誤：Whether one enjoys or resents advertisements, we are actually bombarded with it every hour of the day.

正：Whether we enjoy or resent advertisements, we are actually bombarded with them every hour of the day.

【說明】代詞應與所指代的先行詞保持人稱和數上的一致。句1也可改成Whether one enjoys or resents the advertisement, he is actually bombarded with it every hour of the day.

四、平行結構方面的錯誤

這里專指語態、比較級、非謂語形式、冠詞用法、可數名詞和不可數名詞、不定代詞單復數以及時態等錯誤。

1、誤：Narrow streets easily cause to happen many traffic accidents.

正：narrow streets easily cause many traffic accidents. (to happen)

誤：A great change has been taken place since then.

正：A great change has taken place since then.

誤：But it may occur some new problems.

正：But some new problems may occur/arise.

誤：Opportunities are only belonged to those who work hard.

正：Opportunities only belong to those who work hard.

【說明】happen，take place，occur，arise等動詞和動詞詞組一般既不能用作被動結構，也不能作為及物動詞帶賓語的。但學生作文中類似的錯誤較多：Our country has taken place a great change in many fields.

2、誤：The pace of our modern life is getting more faster and faster.

正：The pace of our modern life is getting faster and faster.

誤：Electricity is the most important power in our daily life than other kinds of power.

正：Electricity is the most important power in our daily life.

誤：Thus our city will be greatly beautiful than it is now.

正：Thus our city will be far more beautiful than it is now.

【說明】這些都是在使用比較形式時出現的錯誤。尤其是第1例較普遍。如more easier，more stronger等。

五、斷句方面的錯誤

一句句子沒有結束，又開始新的一句，結果造成句子結構不全，這就成為斷句。

誤：TV becomes an important part in our daily life. Because we cannot live without it.

正：TV becomes an important part in our daily life，because we cannot live without it.

【說明】以because，since，if等引導的從句是不能獨立成句的，只能依屬于主句，所以不能寫成另一句。

六、連詞方面的錯誤

作文中缺少必要的連詞，或錯用連詞的現象也比較普遍。

誤：One should improve his English，one should overcome difficulties in studies.

正：If one wants to improve his English，he should overcome difficulties in studies.

【說明】學生在寫作中往往意識不到連詞的重要，不善于使用連詞和連接副詞來明確標示出因果關系、轉折關系、遞進關系等。

七、搭配方面的錯誤

學生作文中用詞搭配方面的錯誤也占有較大比例。曾經在一次六級作文閱卷中，近千篇作文在表達上海交通越來越擁擠這個意思時，幾乎沒有一篇用 heavier，大多數人用的是The traffic in Shanghai is getting more and more crowded，而traffic是不能與crowded搭配的。

1、誤：However the speed of a car is much faster than that of a bicycle.

正：However the speed of a car is much higher than that of a bicycle.

【說明】speed只能和high，low，good，top，normal，fantastic，moderate，surprising等搭配，不能與fast，quick，slow搭配。但可以這樣說A car is much faster in speed than a bicycle.

2、誤：In the past the price of milk was so expensive that most families could not afford it.

正：In the past the price of milk was so high that most families couldnt afford it.

【說明】price只和high，low，inflated，moderate，minimum，original，popular，prevailing，published，reduced，reasonable等搭配，不能與expensive，cheap搭配，但可以說In the past，milk was so expensive that most families couldnt afford it.

由此可見，要提高對詞語搭配的駕馭能力，除了要在平時的閱讀過程中多積累，還需要克服中文中諸如速度快、價格貴、學習知識、人減少等搭配的影響，避免寫出look book或see book這樣的笑話來。
